Our story

Chartered in 1952. Still serving.

The Norwood Lions Club was chartered on March 24, 1952, with 52 founding members under the sponsorship of the Lions Club of Peterborough. From day one our purpose has been the same: serve the Township of Asphodel-Norwood and its neighbours wherever there is a need.

Over seven decades we have built a community pavilion, sponsored bursaries for hundreds of local students, supported the Norwood Agricultural Fair, raised tens of thousands of dollars for vision and hearing programs, and shown up on countless cold mornings to direct parking, flip burgers, and pour coffee.

The Norwood Lions are part of Lions Clubs International’s District A-3 — one of more than 1,800 Lions Clubs across Ontario. We are a registered Canadian charity. Our work is funded by our community, for our community.

What we believe

We Serve. It’s our motto and our practice.

Service first

We are a service organization. Our work is hands-on, local, and measurable.

Community-centred

Decisions are made by Lions who live in Norwood. Money raised here stays here.

Open & welcoming

Anyone in the community of good character can join — bring a friend to a meeting.

Honest stewardship

Funds raised for charity flow through our charitable account, separate from operations.
